Web Advertising
Taking a more direct approach than the organic Search Engine Optimization
approach, Web advertising, often called Search Engine Marketing (or Paid Placement)
is an advertising model used with search
engines, on advertising networks, and on content websites/blogs, where
there's some payment to the search engine organizations to gain
greater visibility.
The major benefit of using paid placement or
pay per click marketing is the speed
at which you can get results, sometimes as quickly as next day results.
As with SEO, the basic process is similar:
- keyword analysis and alignment with your business/organization
- advertisement copy writing and deployment with the search engines, including alignment of
specific ads with specific site pages, and
- measure and improve
Paid
Inclusion is a search engine marketing method in itself, but also
a tool of search engine optimization, since experts and firms can test
out different approaches to improving ranking, and see near-immediate
results. Knowledge gained this way can be used to optimize other web
pages, without paying the search engine company.
When a user types a keyword query matching the
advertiser's keyword list, or views a page with relevant content, the
advertiser's ad may be shown. These ads are called a "Sponsored link"
or "sponsored ads" and appear next to or above the "natural" or
organic results on search engine results pages, or anywhere a
webmaster/blogger chooses on a content page.
